Anxiety and stress

I specialise in hypnosis for anxiety and stress reduction, and provide treatment for a range of anxiety-related issues, including worry, anxiety, chronic stress and panic attacks.

Worry, anxiety and stress can have a huge impact on our lives and can sometimes make us feel as though we’ve lost control of our emotions. By using a range of simple, effective cognitive behavioural techniques alongside hypnotherapy, I can help you regain that control. I can help if you have:

  • Problems with regular, persistent, ‘general’ worry, anxiety or feelings of stress
  • Difficulty controlling ‘negative’ thoughts
  • Panic attacks or strong, sudden feelings of anxiety
  • A fear or anxiety about certain social situations (for example, giving a presentation, speaking in a group, or going on a date

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for stress and anxiety. It combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Applied Relaxation techniques. These approaches are widely-recognised as two of the most effective methods of treating stress and anxiety.

My approach to reducing anxiety and stress
My approach is straightforward:

Firstly, I’ll help you to fully understand what’s going on in your body when you feel stressed, anxious or panicked, as well as the triggers and situations that cause these feelings (click here for more information about happens in our bodies when we’re stressed or anxious). Using this cognitive behavioural approach we’ll also deal with any behaviours or thought patterns that contribute to, or help maintain, your anxiety.

I’ll then help you to overcome your stress and anxiety by teaching you a range of simple, effective relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques. These relax your body and muscles, calm your mind, and provide you with a deep feeling of relaxation and calm. Most clients notice a big difference in their ability to relax after just one session.

Once you’ve learnt to use the techniques to relax yourself, we’ll use hypnosis to practice using them in different situations and remaining calm and relaxed throughout. We’ll repeat this many times under hypnosis, so that you become used to being calm and relaxed in situations that would previously have cause you to be stressed or anxious. In this way, we’ll instil new automatic responses to those situations.

After each session, I’ll provide you with a personalised audio recording so that you can practice the relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques on your own between sessions.

By the end of the treatment (usually about four to six sessions), you’ll realise that your general level of stress and anxiety has reduced, you’re feeling calmer and more relaxed in general, and you’re far more able to remain relaxed in situations that you used to find stressful. You’ll also have a range of techniques you can use to immediately relax yourself.

I know that getting help can feel like a big step, and you might even feel unsure about whether or not anything can be done to improve your situation. I’m confident that I’ll be able to help you, and I’m happy to spend some time talking through your issue with you. It’s completely confidential, so feel free to contact me for a chat about how I can help.

I work with clients across London and home visits are also available.
